Shipbourne has two fine and diverse pubs. Both are popular with locals and visitors alike, have caring landlords and pleasant staff. We are lucky to have them.
The Chaser:
Open log fires, good cask beers, freshly home cooked food, quality drinkable wines, a beautiful beer garden and a covered courtyard in the winter months. It is a place for people to meet, eat, drink and chat in a relaxed informal atmosphere.

The Kentish Rifleman:
Situated in Roughway Lane, between Dunks Green and Shipbourne, ‘The Rifleman’ (born about 1552) is a charming and traditional ‘Old English Pub’ hidden away in the Kentish countryside. The low, oak beamed ceilings and open fireplaces set the scene for a cosy visit during the winter months, while a pretty cottage garden provides the perfect setting for outside dining, or just for a drink to catch up with friends during the warmer months of the year.
This Free House serves good real ales, good wine and home cooked food. Ongoing events include a popular Pub Quiz night, Dunk’s Fest and the annual Kentish Rifleman Autumn Produce Show – a fun show for amateur gardeners around the Shipbourne, Plaxtol and Dunk’s Green area.
