Data Protection

Each parish in the Church of England is bound by the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation of 2018 (GDPR).
Our main source of personal information is our Electoral Roll, which we are bound by law to keep, to revise and publish on an annual basis, and to renew every five years. A list of names and addresses, not including telephone numbers or email addresses is required to be published before the Annual Parish Church Meeting. Only parish officers that need this information for the completion
of their role are granted it, and the church makes use of such information strictly on the legal basis of ‘legitimate interest’.
This is covered by our General Privacy Notice which may be downloaded here:

From time to time, the church needs to keep personal data for others who are not on the Electoral Roll, most commonly on occasions such as baptisms, weddings and funerals. In these cases, explicit consent for the processing of such data is sought.

GDPR provides for guaranteed access to, and the editing, updating or deletion of any personal data.
Please contact the Rector, who is the Data Controller for the parish.
A formal Data Audit is currently being undertaken.
